Installpkg ignoring tar-1.13; throwing up warning while installing packages

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hi,
I'm running Slack 12.2, and I'm getting this problem where installpkg doesn't detect the presence of tar-1.13. I believe this is coz it just asks the system for the version of tar installed, and that's 1.22. So while installing packages, it gives a warning that tar-1.13 was not found. Is there someway I could stop installpkg from echoing this warning, given that version 1.13 of tar is installed in it's proper location? Please advise.

pkgtools tries to use tar-1.13

Can you confirm that '/bin/tar-1.13' exists and that '/bin/tar-1.13 --version' reports back that it is indeed 1.13?

At Slackware 12.2 install you will get tar-1.16-1-i486
installed, providing /bin/tar (1.16 ) , /bin/tar-1.13

But if you remove the package, and replace it with
a version 1.22 : Then /bin/tar-1.13 is gone !

Suggest : cp tar-1.13 /bin/
.....
