installing sw via floppy - problems

i downloaded the bare.i, install.1 and install.2, copied it to disk using rawwritexp, and tried to install sw.
i inserted the bare.i and booted from floppy and the initialization screen of sw showed up.

it prompted me to press enter to begin installation, and i did so.

then sw said loading failed, please insert another disk.
i inserted install.1 and pressed enter to continue, but then the system hanged up.

the led's of my computer showed me that the PC was loading and the floppy drive was in use, but nothing happened, it continued to stay at this stadium.

i also tried to enter bare.i at the boot: prompt, but it said "couldn't find kernel image: bare.i"

is it a wrong kernel version for my hardware?

try just pressing enter without typing "bare.i"
when you're at the boot: prompt you can press <tab> to see the list of things you and type there.

i actually only pressed enter when trying the first tie, the alternative was bare.i, but neither bare.i nor <enter> worked.

i couldn't enter boot parameters either (such as "vga=xxx": it displayed "couldn't find kernel image: vga=xxx (whatever i typed for xxx))

to set the vga you need to press <tab> at the boot prompt and type....

linux vga=xxx

where "linux" is whatever name comes up when you press <tab>
