Installing Slackware without CD or USB

I'm trying to install Slackware on a very old PC, without a CD or USB drive. The hard drive on this PC is completely empty as well; the only thing it has is a floppy drive and a broadband internet connection. I can get the Slackware boot floppies to run, but I don't know how to finish the install, since I can't install from CD/DVD and I don't know of any NFS servers.

Does anyone know how I could install Slackware in this situation?

You need to setup your own NFS server to install from when using the floppies. If you have another Linux machine this is easy enough to do; but if you only have a Windows machine available you will need Microsoft's Services for Unix.

I've found a very simple distro that lets me boot from floppy into a web browser. I should be able to install from a hard drive partition at this point; I just need to know what files Slackware needs to be on this partition (talking about the Install From Hard Drive option on the Slackware installer menu).

Hi,
I use a collection of older machines myself. Some of the ways are :-

1. On older laptops without usb or cd take out the hard disk, put it in another computer, do the installation there, put it back and configure.

2. On towers use another hard disk with the Slackware installation files. You can take it out after you have finished. Use any operative system to put the installation files on the hard disk. You can use only one hard disk if you partition it first.

Please give a little more detail of the hardware you have available.

Hi,

This LQ link for SlackwareŽ12_Janux_NET_NoBurn_Install should help.
