Installing Slackware 9.0 in VMWare

When I run cfdisk /dev/hdc, which is my virtual disk, it sais that it's read-only and lack write permissions, but I'm root when I do this. Thanks in advance for any help.

I finally figured it out. VMware creates virtual machines as scsi drives. I had to start Slackware with the scsi.s kernel at boot.

If you create a virtual machine as 'other' instead of 'Linux', then you'll get an IDE drive. Worked for me, and I was able to compile a kernel without all the scsi stuff.

Enjoy!
