Geez guys, thanks for the positive feedback! I really thought my "old" Athlon server was due for upgrades but seeing im not the only one still running a 6 years old CPU I will continue with it!

I guess working with windoze at work and we have what I would call mini super-computers (bleeding edge hardware, 6-cores i7, 16GB RAM, SSD's) but the machines are still slow as hell and sluggish.. This has brain washed me thinking "Holy crap!!! You still run a previous generation of hardware?? UPGRADE!!!! NOW!!" hahaha

if it weren't for stupid power outages uptime would be in years.
What about a UPS?? If you are in a country where the grid is notoriously unstable, you might want to gear up with a decent UPS to reduce the impact of outages and protect the hardware from power spikes and unsolicited shutdowns.. IMO the worst are "auto recloses" when utilities switch power from a substation to another or from a line to another.. You see a "bump" in the power which resets all electronics such as microwave ovens and computers... Not good.

On a related topic to this machine, if you are good and experienced with apache and php, and feel helping out, please take a look => http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...552/page2.html starting at post #23..

Have a good day!

In which country are you in? My UPS has 1500VA so even with the server and the pfsense router running (and other small devices, wifi AP, etc) I still have about half hour of battery time..

Unless the outages are very long, a decent ups should be sufficient..

Live in midwest US, sometimes 4-15 hours power goes out, it's rare but happens.

I have a similar issue, sometimes the current peak make my residual current device go down, so if I'm out or it happens during the night it can take hours before I reset it.

Seriously this issue is starting to irritate me.. Ive looked into it and I wonder if it could be related to the session startup options or parameters tightvnc uses to start a vnc server?

Also, looking into tightvnc's log there is quite some info there..
