Installing Slackware 12 on VMWARE

Hello everyone, I’ve just installed slackware 12 (DVD iso image) using VMWARE 6 ACE edition. The installation went surprisingly well, for its my first time installing slackware. I created my virtual machine using Linux installation with the 2.6 version kernel, 256 MB RAM, IDE Hard disk etc. Now, after the installation, I rebooted only to be welcomed by this error message from VMWARE “The CPU has been disabled by the guest operating system. You will need to power off or reset the virtual machine at this point”.

Can some please explain to me what’s wrong here? Thanking your good selves in advance.

Additional info – My cpu is an Intel Celeron D 2.4Ghz 256 L2 Cache with 533 FSB
RAM – 1024 DDR 400
Host OS Windows XP Pro SP2

I know this doesn't address your question directly, but have you tried using vmware server? It is now free.

Regards,

Randy.

You might be better served by going to VMWare's Discussion Forums

I always go there for all my VMWare needs.

Nope! Your issue is with VMWare, not Slackware. Slackware 12 run fine in VMWare on my systems. I've seen a lot of different erros on my guests but never that one. Even Googling the error doesn't provide much help.
