Installing Slack 12.2 on VMware 5.9

This is my first post and I'd like to thank you for any help I receive in advance.

After setting up an 8 gig Virtual Machine, I fire it up running the Slack 12.2 iso. I run the kernel, log in as root and run fdisk. Fdisk only sees 4 gigs of my 8 gig VM. No matter what size, 6g to 20g, only sees 4. Any ideas why this is happening?

Any help is appreciated.

How much disk space do you have on the partition that the VM resides in?

Are you sure you're pointing fdisk to the right device? VMWare disks show up as scsi devices (/dev/sda) instead of hda. hda is probably your physical optical drive or something.
