Installing PAM in Slackware

Hello!
I've just installed proftpd as FTP server on my pc, and i found out it requires PAM for authentication. I've just read that Slackware doesn't include PAM (and this probably explains why proftpd is using linux user accounts), but i would like to use a MySQL database for ftp authentication.

Is it possible to install PAM? And i don't want PAM to manage logins, i want to keep 'shadow'..

Thanks!

If you install the proftpd package from the 'n' package series, you should be able to use the shadow file for authentication. PAM is not needed at all.

If memory serves me right, Slackware refuses to include PAM in the Distro do to the history of problems that PAM has created with other distros.
