Installing MS Arial Unicode Font

Hi all,

My KDE does not have Unicode support I think, in a thread someone told me to get a unicode, the most complete one is Arial Unicode Font from MS, I got it from my windows Folder, and installed it in KDE

Konqueror detected the font, but I still see boxes???

You'll have to set Konqueror to force that font. I know how in Mozilla but I'm not a Konqueror user, so you'll have to wait for a member that is, or just start looking. ;)

In konqueror:
Settings menu > Configure Konqueror > Fonts

Thats what I did, I mean to say that even though I am using the most complete UNicode font, I still can not see UNIcode characters!!!

copy the arial unicode font file to /usr/share/fonts (it is a folder, if doesn't exist mkdir for it).
execute fc-cache, relogin (shouldn't need to).

We need to make sure the file contains\shows the encoding you need

- Do a "xfontsel"
- Go to "family" menu, choose "arial"
- Go to "encding" menu, see if your encoding is available
- Choose it, see if the lower line of font example shows the letters in your language.

BTW, what is the encoding you are trying to get? (You can give a Windows term. i.e. cp1251, or a name i.e.Canadian French)
