Installing Maya 6.5 unlimited
hey,
just wondering if anyone has ever successfully installed maya 6.5 unlimited in slackware and how they did it. Feel free to give as many details as possible Thanks. |
There are no instructions that come with this software ?
(I would think so, given that it is a high end application) |
I've tried, used rpm2tgz to convert the maya rpm's to .tgz files, installed them using installpkg.
everything went smoothly for that portion. had to install fam (file access monitering) and compile support into the kernel. set MAYA_LOCATION, AW_COMMON, NLSPATH and put /usr/aw/maya6.5/bin/ into the executable path. on my shell. (i think thats about all you'd ever have to do to get maya to work) all the other requisites where there..and i still couldnt get it to work, but nor could I find any more info to help me out. but that's just my experience |
If this is a rpm, you could install it as rpm with
rmp -ivh --nodeps <maya rpm> Also take a look at : http://www.highend3d.com/boards/post...ard=linuxforum |
also something i didnt notice you might have to do, sorry for forgetting heh... you might have to link your .so.1 files to .so extension of the same name (RPM would have done this for you, but converted deb/tgzs dont seem to (i dont know?))
After that, All was a go ... |
