is there anyone here who has installed the flgrx module without recompiling the kernel.

i don't even have the kernel sources so i can't compile the modules.

yeah i have done it, but you will have to get the kernel sources
i compiled it as a module.

i guess you are using a radeon card?? maybe?

i used this procedure here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...789#post205789

worked flawlessly

also i got the driver for my xfree version here : http://www.schneider-digital.de/html...nload_ati.html

i hope i am giving you the right info.

i did as you said

i did what you said
i got the kernel and unpacked it to /usr/src/linux-2.4.0
and added a link to that in /usr/src/linux

now i went to /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod
and ran ./make.sh
and it said that
/usr/src/linux-2.4.0/include/linux/version.h
is not found (the file really isn't there)

what kernel source package did you download?
you need to get the .tgz slackware package.

once you have downloaded that, as root from the console type:
Code:
installpkg kernelsource.tgz - where kernelsource is the name of the package
then run the make script again, all will work!

aslong as you are running slack 9 with the default kernel you can get the kernel source package from here: http://www.slackware.at/data/slackwa...0-noarch-5.tgz
