Installing a *.pkg.tar Package

I'm trying to install a package called the ARM cross-compiler pacakge. The filename is arm_elf_stl.pkg.tar and if extracted it creates a folder called arm_elf_stl.pkg with another folder called Contents which contains some other files and folders. The closest I've come to figuring out how to install this package is to use pkgadd -d arm_elf_stl.pkg or something along that line, but no such utilities are installed on my slackware machine.

Can someone tell me how I install a *.pkg.tar package like this in Slackware?

It looks like that's a Mac OSX package ... could it be you have to install that onto your iPod from a Mac?

Damn, turns out I have been following Mac instructions. I'm trying to install iPodLinux on my iPod Nano from a linux machine, because I've had zero success installing from Windows. Guess It would help if I was following Linux based instructions...
