install_audacity

I'm trying to install audacity, but at the ./configure
it's gives me
configure: error: "Could not find wx-config: is wxWidgets installed? is wx-config in your path?"

I've installed wxWidgets-2.8.0

how do I put wx-config in the path?
thx

Where did you get wxwidgets from?

I installed wxGTK from linuxpackages, I think, and it works for me. Perhaps wxGTK is part of your package?

Oh, and I seem to remember a distinction. If you have the normal download version of audacity(1.2.x), you need wxgtk version 2.4.

If you have the newer version of audacity(1.3.x), you will need at least wxgtk version 2.6. Otherwise, I think it gives you that exact error.
