Install via CDs

Hi, I've been working with Centos, oh, probably a year or less. Still very much a newbie, I've recently installed 3 of the 6 CDs for Slackware13. After the 3rd, the system said I was finished with the installation. I've tried running it and a lot of the necessary files are missing. I would just try booting to the 4th CD, but I wanted to pause, and understand what's going on. What has preceded this stage, and what will follow?

You don't need all of the discs to install Slackware, the other discs have documentation and source code on them.

What necessary files do you seem to be missing?

When I try to open Akonadi Console I get a list of errors, and when I try to locate files via "locate" in the terminal emulator I get "locate: fatal error: Could not find user database '/var/lib/slocate/slocate.db': No such file or directory."

Well, the locate database won't exist until the system has time to create it. If I recall correctly, Slackware creates that file at 5 AM every day, so if your machine isn't on 24/7 (and presumably, you aren't on the computer at 5 AM) the database won't get created.

If you want to create it manually you could run the script at:

Code:
/etc/cron.daily/slocate
As for Akondai, what are the exact errors you are seeing?
