Install error

Someone must hate me. The install was kinda confusing but i think i got it right. I was installing and i got an error that said "fatal error occurd during install.... /var/log/mount/slackware/ap/ash-0.4.0-i386-1.tgz couldent install er sumthin and you can click continue but it may not work properly. " but there was a small prompt at bottom, and i couldet hit continue. What should i do? Should i reburn the cd? i only have one more left.

Before I would burn another CD I would check the MD5 checksums on your downloaded iso image.

Stevonio 12-07-2004 04:52 PM

Is the code in there the md5sum?

ftp://dl.xs4all.nl/pub/mirror/slackw...all-d1.iso.asc

under the d1 iso the numbers in the .asc?

Stevonio 12-07-2004 05:25 PM

It did that during the first popup for installing packages. Its not that one, it more then one...i press enter 5 times and all had the error and i didnt hit ok beyond there. Hrmmm

Stevonio 12-07-2004 05:46 PM

I just checked the MD5SUMS *assumuing their the same as from here ftp://slackware.mirrors.tds.net/pub/...all-d1.iso.md5 * and they match. What to do?

does your OS ( Slack ) actually work ?
( as you only got one error on the "ash " package )

I replied with another post saying there was more then one. sry. and no im not on it. I went trhough five but then decided to stop. Ill burn with nero instead of this isoburner... Do you think i should risk my last disk? (worried that if i skip them all and slack dosent work that at reboot i wont get choice of botting to windows)

egag 12-07-2004 06:33 PM

if you want to check the readability of the current cd, just try to copy one of the files that wouldn't install.
like this one : slackware/ap/ash-0.4.0-i386-1.tgz

just copy it somewhere with windows and see if it's all read. ( afterwards delete the thing from hd.)
if that gives errors too, your cd is probably not ok.
( when you burn cd's, use not the highest speed .... )

I dont know what that iso burner records it as...its a simple next next done burning and finalizing program. Ill use nero next,

hey man..i got this message when dragging to desktop

cannot copy --filename --- cannot read from source file or disk

egag 12-07-2004 07:22 PM

well....that cd is just nogood.
try nero ( i think it's under "recorder---->burn iso " ).
and you can set speed there....
