init.d on slackware

After installing Slackware today (version 9.1) I was willing to install my Conexant PCI ADSL AccessRunner modem, but I have not been able to install the compile driver as I haven't find the init.d directory.
So why is this directory not in /etc nor /etc/rc.d?

Thanks for your help!

this is because slackware has BSD-style init scripts, while a lot of other distros use the SysV init scripts! If you want some more help please post you ADSL modem installation instructions
