Imbedded video
Since installing Slackware 13 I have been unable to get imbedded video on websites to play. I have usually used mplayer plugin for Firefox until 12.2 when I switched to Gecko and always had good luck. Since the upgrade to 13 though I have not been able to find a decent player.
I should add I usually use Slackbuild.org for my progran source.

Well that's embarrassing I didn't realize mplayer plugin was there. However after installing, some sites work others cause Firefox to crash, which was why I installed gnomemplayer and gecko for Slack 12.2. Slackbuilds doesn't have build scripts for either since 13 came out and the 12.2 versions don't appear to work.
Thanks for the assistance though
Ok. That sounds odd. I've never had any problems with it. Have you installed the mplayer-codecs package from slackbuilds as well? I don't know if it's needed and if it help, but it's worth a shot
Yeah I don't know why they have mplayerplug-in in extra since it doesn't work that well anymore. Just take the slackbuilds from Gnome-Mplayer and Gecko-Media player from slackbuilds.org and download the newest version (0.9.8). Edit the slackbuilds for that version and you should be good to go. It's working fine here on 32bit but for some reason it's not working so well in 64bit. I'm looking into right now, but so far I can't find any reasons.

That was a major improvement. I can now play more types of embedded video, but when I encounter a video that won't play Firefox still crashes. I'm using NASA's video files for test purposes as these seem to be the ones with the most problems. I understand NASA is now using some proprietary b_______t for video.
I can live with some videos not playing but not Firefox / mplayer crashing on an error. I could go back to Microtheft for that type of operation.
Forgive the rant, I am grateful for the help you have provided.
Can anyone here test gecko-media plugins in x86_64 (ver. 0.9.8)? I still can't figure out why it works in 32 and not in 64. At this point it I just want someone else to confirm the error if they could because I can't find anything out about this problem. If anybody has time to test let us know.
