IMAP Email client / Newsgroup reader for Console mode

I'm trying to use my old laptop with linux (Slackware) in text mode. I've found some nice applications, like linx / lynx to surf the net, and mc to manage files. But I haven't found a choice for Email client and Newsgroup reading.

Any suggestions? In Windows I'm using Eudora and Free Agent. I'd like to use applications with the same characteristics, excluding the graphical environment of course.

IMHO, your best bet for IMAP mail on console are Cone or Mutt. I'm using Mutt.

While Cone does include some basic Usenet functionality, my favorite console mode NNTP client is slrn.

If you don't like slrn, try out trn or tin. It looks like tin is still being maintained, while trn is not.

Before using any newsreader, make sure you check out the GNKSA/2 evaluations of the product.
