If someone has time, I have some questions on using Alien Bob's Slackware pkgs

Hello:

I would like to install Libre Office but the Source Download link at SlackBuilds seems to be down.

I went to Alien Bob's but after reading the instructions, I still don't understand what to do to get Libre Office.

Do I just down load http://connie.slackware.com/~alien/s...486-1alien.txz to my /tmp directory and then use installpkg?

Why would I opt for the 'build' route?

If you have the time to answer, what would be the step by step instructions on using the 'build' route to install Libre Office?

Thanks for any clarification in this,

Download the source and Slackbuild and run it.

Building for yourself removes any chance of mismatched library versions between your system and those the package was built against. It's more of a consideration when you're following a moving target like current. With the stable release, and especially with Eric's packages it's not going to be something you'll need to worry about.

you linked the en_GB language pack, this is the openoffice package for 13.1 32bit (en_US, but you can add the language pack too if you need it).

if you opt to build it, beware it needs lot of time.

Thanks.

I can see from this forum that Eric is a wonderful person but I am in no position to 'check' even his discarded doodles! I do, however, appreciate his posts.

Thanks again,

Thank you!

How do you know which pkg to down load?

Edit: OK, I see - I think.

Thanks to all!

Libre Office is now happily living, and working, amongst it's binary friends.

Thanks Eric.

Marking as SOLVED.
