IDS using sguil installation error

Hi all,

I am a newbie tasked with setting up an Intrusion Detection System (IDS). I am following the instructions found in the link https://www.sans.org/security-resour.../slackware.php to install sgui on slackware. My environment is virtualised on Vspehre

I have not been able to get past "cd /cdrom/sguil > Run pkgtool" step, I keep getting error thats states "chmod /mnt/tmp no such file or directory"
work around with no success includes making the /tmp directory and chmod 777 for the directory

I do hope someone can assists

That website is from 2008, the kernel referred to, 2.6, is also very old:

Boot from install CD with correct kernel. Default is huge26smp.s which should work with all systems.

You need pretty old hardware to be able to run that.

The latest sguil version appears to be 0.9.0 maybe try to compile that from source.....
