Icons for Thunar file manager

Hi forum

I use Thunar under IceWM, already used it under Flux... so far so good, no functional problem... this is about eye-candy ... How do i enable different objects in the folder pane to appear "different"...?

Kind of the icon for a file be different from the icon for a folder...

<off topic>Why not use conky </off topic>

Make a textdocument in your home folder, named ".gtkrc-2.0" (without the quotes). Paste the following in said document
Code:

gtk-icon-theme-name = "Tango"
Close Thunar if it's open, start it again. Now you should have Tango's icons.

Hi @DidierSpaier, @Jannekrille

@DidierSpaier

Conky looks awesome, is it difficult to configure? never used it, I guess it depends on some .conkyrc somewhere in ~... I will try to get the Slackbuild for it...

@JannerKrille

Thanks a lot....

Worked like a charm... :-)

Hi Alex,

Yes you can get this SlackBuild.

It do depends on a ~/.conkyrc. a default one is provided, mine is appended, "man conky" will tell you more.

It is not difficult to configure, though asking for syntax to be used in .conkyrc I was told "look at examples and try", which is not what I expected :(

Including LUA functions can seem a bit tricky at first but is not really difficult either, see lua.conky and how I made use of it in .conkyrc

I edited the original SlackBuild to add some configure options and edited a few c files (audacious.c, xmms2.c et weather.c) in the source tarball to translate some words into French.

To be able to use the --enable-nvidia configure option (I have a nVidia graphic card) I had to download a source tarball of nvidia-settings and make it to get a needed file libXNVCtrl.a and then made some adjustments so that configure find it where it expects to.

Well, this post is way too long but I'm too lazy now to erase unneeded information.

Take care,

<rant>I had to append .txt to filenames to get them uploaded -- stupid check</rant>:scratch:

To be fair, I found this solution on some *buntu-forum, not sure which when I googled it.
