i saw this twice but cannot find what it is
i downloaded a package, and when it was done downloading, it opened in a window which appeared to have buttons which would compile, make and make install. i've seen this twice now, but i never looked at what it was. any ideas what this thing is? at first i thought it was emacs, but emacs doesn't seem to be what it was.

I'm very confused since I cannot understand WHICH package does WHAT.
I missed the complile and make/make-install part. What it has to do with such matters as buttons? |
what i'm referring to appears to be a gui of some sort which offers you the ability to compile, make and make install outside of the terminal command. i'm still looking for it, i know it's here someplace, i just can't seem to locate it. i think the reason i ignored it and clicked away from it was that i am so used to using cli, but both times this program appeared, i spotted the buttons at the bottom just as i was closing it out, so never really did see what i just closed.

Which package are you talking about?
|
i believe one was a tar.gz and another was a tar.bz2. they were not slackbuilds. i've tried downloading tar.gz and tar.bz2 to see if they would launch anything, but they don't. i think it's one of those odd things i'll never know...

Ok, maybe I didn't be clear: I'd like to know the name of the pakage and WHERE did you get it! :)
|
ahhhh...ok i see what you're asking. i don't know the name of the package. i know it lives in slackware 14 someplace but i don't know how to trigger it. its possible it's part of a download manager, or something that it triggered by a download manager, but i cannot reproduce what i did before to have it start up.

Perhaps you were using sbopkg which downloads, compiles, and installs packages from slackbuilds.org, or gslapt which is a GUI that installs slack packages.
