I need an nvidia/agpgart pro's opinion plz!

I have slack up and running under k 2.6.7 only problem now is that my fps in doom3 is about half what it was under kernel 2.4.Kernel 2.6 is supposed to be faster so what am I doing wrong?

Also,if agpgart cannot determine arperture size does this stress the video card or does nvidia's driver compensate well enough?
I get a failed agpgart message with kernel 2.4 and yet performance is much better with 2.4 than with 2.6.

I'm not anything near a "pro," but you might try messing with NVIDIA's AGP instead of AGPGART. Edit your X config file and put in
Code:
Option "NvAgp" "1"
to use NvAGP instead. If you want to switch back, just change the "1" to "2" and it will use AGPGART. Other than that, I have no idea; but remember, I'm no "pro."

Thx.
I tried nvagp 1 but unfortunately if agpgart module loads then nvagp automatically will not.

I suppose I am mainly concerned about undue stress on the video card as agpgart loads and detects maximum main memory to use for video but it can not determine the size of the "agp arperture" which I have set at 64 mb in the bios. Can anyone tell me if this is something to really be concerned about or should I just relax and move along?

3d acceleration works right now and nothing seems to be unstable.
