I am wandering about systemd in new Slackware release

Hi,

The question is when Slackware will switch to systemd? It will in just coming release (I expect it will be soon),? My sentiment to Slackware is strong, I learned much using Slackware, Iregret the direction of development Linux took - "Linux is not Unix", now sounds for me as a curse. But well, I am wandering, that systemd is a must, if Slackware want to be popular, and, in fact, even exist in future. I am not trying to start discussion about systemd. I am only asking question.

Thanks.

With the way Slackware works there is only one man who knows the answer, and he won't tell the community until it is ready.
Have a look at his post on this topic and in particular look at the last line in that post.

From Macbeth by William Shakespeare

Double, double toil and trouble
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.
...
By the pricking of my thumbs,
Something wicked this way comes.

My question is just on time. Soon it will be two years without new stable release. I tried to figure out about systemd status looking at Slackware -current repositiory, but found nothing remarkable.

Did you care to read the answers you already received?

Insisting would be trolling, IMHO.

@Didier: I am not troll. At this moment I have answers of people "who have no idea", so why do you care to answer if you don't know?

After the recent huge batch of updates, the next stable release shouldn't be too far away. And you're right, there's nothing remarkable about Slackware. That's how most of us like it.

I am closing this thread. Maybe I should ask Eddie as "Eddie knows". @kikinovak: I was trying to find a clue for status of systemd, is Slackware "remarkable" or "not" was not my concern. I am using Slackware since 9.1.

Systemd requires Patrick to offer up AlienBOB or Robby Workman as a living sacrifice on the evil alter of the dark god LennKayGreg of three heads of the dark world Kaidebus. So far Patrick has been in deep prayer and meditation trying to contact the great holy Bob for wisdom and guidance on this matter. We only sit and wait outside the great shine of Slackistus on word if we shall join with the armies of Devuanitis or if we are to align with the dark ones.

Because "no idea/don't know" is actually the answer.

I hope everyone recognized the sarcasm for what it was, right?

I don't understand quite well: who is sarcastic? @Dodier Spaier or @volkerdi ?

What Bob refers to is the statement by Pat Volkerdi saying "Save it for when we switch to systemd". That is not decided as far as any of us can tell...the approach is to wait and see.

Have a closer look at volkerdi's post. You will see him winking at the end. :)
