Unhappy I am in a trouble between ./configure apache2 and c compiler

I try to install apache 2.0 on my slackware10.0 box. I have done Slackware layout for config.layout under apache folder. Then when i try to
./configure --enable-layout=Slackware
it states that i have no acceptable C compiler.
I have noticed that I really don't have C compiler for a long time ago.
Last time I tried to build proftpd, my box also showed an error msg states that I don't have an acceptable C compiler.
Where can I get some documentation relates to build C compiler, install C compiler and set path ect.

Download the Slackware gcc package and use pkgtool to install it.
