Unhappy I'm having a problem configuring my Printer

well, my printer is an HP Deskjet 3745 and is supportable by linux, but I cannot configure it.

i've read somewhere that I should use CUPS, and that's what I've tried as well, and here I get a problem :

after typing http://localhost:631

i get a msg telling me that I cannot connect to that specific port.. so I just cannot do anything

anyway to work all this out via the shell ? or any other way to configure the printer ?

thanks in advance

You should check to see if cups is running with "ps -A | grep cupsd". If not you can start it with "/etc/rc.d/rc.cups start".

Yes, just make sure cups is running, as above, and make it execute at boot.

chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.cups

Should be easy after that via the web interface.

Also make sure your printer is switched on.
