I've got Google Chrome as a directory in temp. Now how to install it?
I've managed to get Google Chrome as far as making a directory in temp, but haven't found out how to "seal the deal," and install it.
Using a combination of http://www.slackwiki.com/SlackBuild_Scripts and http://www.mutaku.com/wp/index.php/2...ware-13-13-37/ I can see the directory in temp, but haven't found out what the system expects to make it install. All I can do is ./package-google-chrome, and of course that fails, as I'm telling it to install a directory, which I admit is stupid, but where do I find the SlackBuild now that a directory has been created in temp? |

That helped a lot. All I needed was to run "upgradepkg --install-new /tmp/google-chrome-21.0.1180.81-i386-1.txz" and the program went to town.
But when I open the "Network" panel (using XFCE) there's no Google icon. Don't know if I have to log out, or reboot, or if I still have to do something else. When I tried searching this, I came across this old thread asking how to install Google Chrome from the DVD. It's author was me, about a year ago.http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ve-dvd-908077/ I'd forgotten I'd done this, but as the saying goes, those who refuse to learn from history are bound to repeat it. Hey, what do you know! Typing "google-chrome" into the terminal starts Google Chrome! May mark it solved, is there anything I need to do to get the icon in the XFCE menu? Is it possible to mark a thread "Mostly solved"? Just kidding. Edit: After rebooting, the icon is there, and everything works. |
