It seems fairly straightforward, so I'm mostly looking for any hints on what modems to use (must be ISDN in my case), any "quirks" I should be aware of or whatever any of you Slackware/HylaFAX experts feel like sharing.
I have installed and tested hylaFAX on Slackware 11. It is very simple to install. Just read some documentation of HylaFAX website. It is just a question of about half an hour to two hrs depending upon a person's grasping the written text.
Any further question?
Sorry, you will not have any questions, it is simple.
I have installed Hylafax quite a few times in the past, and got it working with just about everything, with the only exception of USR modems --- they simply won't work with Hylafax.
Regarding ISDN I have no experience, but for all I know AVM products (known as Fritz! boxes) have excellent Linux support.
I have used some of their products (just not for ISDN), and can only report the very best.
In case you are unsure if their products are right for your purpose, just email to AVM. They usually respond quickly, competently and friendly.
(And BTW, this the one company that prevents me from supporting the initiative to remove all closed source hardware drivers from the Linux kernel, because then we weren't able to use such good products with Linux).
