Huawei E160E USB modem fails to connect with Oct 14 updates

After upgrading to 14.1 RC1 my Huawei E160E USB modem fails to connect using NetworkManager.
Inspection of the output from dmesg shows this:
Code:

NetworkManager[787]: <info> (cdc-wdm0): device state change: prepare -> failed (reason 'gsm-registration-timeout') [40 120 32]
I have restored my ability to connect by reverting to:
network-manager-applet-0.9.8.2
NetworkManager-0.9.8.2
ModemManager-0.6.2.0

My wireless connection worked fine with the Oct 14 updates, the problem is only with the USB modem.
Has anybody else seen this?

Apparently I am not alone. http://lists.opensuse.org/archive/op.../msg00177.html

I have now discovered that the modem connects using NetworkManager-0.9.8.8 and ModemManager-1.0.0 if I downgrade dhcpcd-6.0.5 to dhcpcd-5.6.6

So the problem is with dhcpcd. I have tried rebuilding dhcpcd-6.0.5 with the patch linked from this post http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...on-4175485139/ without success.

Allend, out of curiosity, does your dongle require a username and password?

Username and password are not required; only the APN is required.
