Make sure you did these steps :
Code:
cd /etc/apache
cp ssl.crt/snakeoil-rsa.crt ssl.crt/server.crt
cp ssl.key/snakeoil-rsa.key ssl.key/server.key
Then edit mod_ssl.conf and change :
Code:
<IfDefine SSL>
Listen 80
Listen 443
</IfDefine>
to :
Code:
<IfDefine SSL>
#Listen 80
Listen 443
</IfDefine>
(as Listen 80 is already defined in httpd.conf)

now start apache with ssl :
Code:
apachectl startssl
then browse :
https://localhost
(or the machine name, or the name of virtual host you defined in ssl_mod.conf)

it worked fine guys and thank u...
One more thing i have tested the https and worked when the apache was at stantalone mode...
I need to run https from inetd...

So i added thefollowingto the inetd.conf
# Web Server
http stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/sbin/httpd start
https stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/sbin/httpd startssl

The http works fine but the https not...any sugestion for waht to do know?

That seems to be network protocol problem, SSL works under inetd in network stack
