HTML files saved without an extension.

Slackware 14.1
Xfce 4.10
Seamonkey 2.21

Hi: every time I save an Internet page on disk I find the file has been saved with a name lacking the extension. It generally should have to be
.html. It is only a short time since I notice this behavior, When I installed 14.1 it worked OK. Possible causes?

We need more information to help you, especially examples.

Please give the exact URL of some of these pages and the method you used to save them.

Thanks. I'll give you three:

http://imslp.org/
https://archive.org/

I just press ^S and Enter. Or else File>Save Page As.

I just went to save a webpage to a file in Seamonkey. OP appears to be correct; Seamonkey expects user to apply the file extension.

In the "Save" dialog, the page title appears in the "name" field at the top. In the bottom right, just above the dialog button to choose what's being saved (files, full page, HTML only, text). I tested and that dialog does not append an extension. Given that range of choices, I wonder whether automating the selection of an extension can be accomplished easily or even whether there is a standard for applying the extension.

The save dailog also doesn't seem to work and play well with webpages containing dynamic content, such as blogs.

That doesn't look like good news. I'll try another web browser then. Thanks a lot frankbell.

Glad I could help, but I really didn't do much except test the function.

I just happen to be using Vivaldi tonight. It seems to have a nice save function.

Konqueror wants you to type in the file name.
