HPLIP crashes on 14

I've been encountering crashes and general odd behavior with hplip 3.12.9 in Slackware 14. Such as hp-toolbox crashing on startup if a ~/.hplip/ directory exists and hp-check hanging at initialisation.

Upgrading to hplip 3.12.10a appears to have fixed most of these issues, although hp-check still doesn't work and hp-systray won't always open hp-toolbox, but at least hp-toolbox works now.

In ~/home/youruser/.hplip/hplip.conf, delete the upgrade section at the bottom of that file. That should solve your problem. You may need to be root to delete that section.

Thanks, but upgrading fixed the issue with the ~/.hplip/ directory existing (not just ~/.hplip/hplip.conf) and that doesn't help with the hp-check hang.

I'll keep it in mind for if I reinstall or do any other install of 14. And of course that's handy info for those who would rather not upgrade hplip.
