Very quick question: is it available for 32 and 64 bit computers?

Thanks,
New 64-bit version available now!

Any testers yet?

Hi Magnus

I will download this tomorrow, and try to install it in my USB stick, this kind of deployment will spare me from having a /swap killing the sectors of my USB stick with I/O...

I will probably set it us like /boot +- 100megs ext2 ( no Journaling for best USB Stick longevity ), / +- 4 Gigs ext2, and /home +-3.*** Gigs fat 32 To fit it all into an 8 Gigs Usb Stick.

In this deployment ( dunno if it is possible yet... ) can changes to FS be made permanent ( Confoguration options, Install new packages, etc ) or must I remaster the ISO to acheive this...?

BTW what is faster...? a LIVE CD/DVD version, or a Live USB Stick version...?

You can not save any changes done in a LiveDVD/USB session. That would break the point of a "Live" system IMHO.

There is no difference in speed for a LiveDVD or LiveUSB. Everything is loaded into RAM and the speed only depends on the amount of RAM and the speed of the swap.

You can install (as in a normal install to disk) the LiveDVD to a 8GB stick by booting the DVD with "rescue".
There are two options, the first is with an ext2 partition with extlinux for booting and an ext4 partition with the actual system.
The second is with an ext4 partition with the system and where lilo is used for the booting.
You can of course modify the script slackdeploy.sh to get any other kind of layout. Happy hacking!
I do recommend to use tmpfs for /tmp and /var/tmp to get a speedier system when running from a USB-stick. There are examples in fstab for your convenience.

Thanks for testing!

A1. The latest version is at the same place as before: http://linuxconfig.dyndns.org/lazy/L...Slackware_13.0

A1.1 Tools to start and/or rescue(!) another system.

A2. Depends on what you mean. You can install programs and make any changes you like to the live system running in RAM.
You would have to remaster the DVD for any permanent changes.

Hi Magnus Uppman

Long time no see...

How do I remaster the LiveDVD to include my own compiled packages...?

I actually built lots of *.t?z for Slackware64 <current> can I use them...?

I am starting from the DVD from http://linuxconfig.dyndns.org/linuxf..._2009Dec04.iso

What would be the cleverer approach to include some packages, remove some others...?

The file system_13.0.tar.gz is a plain system backup. Unpack it, do a chroot and install/uninstall whatever you like and then repack it.

I don't know if your packages will work. I guess they should work if rebuilt against the backup..
