how to use OSS instead of ALSA slack 9.1

I have been trying to get ALSA working for 4 days and tried everything upgrading kernel to 2.4.27, removing and reinstalling, editing the configurations, checked if the card is supported, et cetera - it is not working.

Even though it is unsupported now how can I setup OSS and use it instead of ALSA. Thanks.

I think just disabling support in the kernel and/or unloading alsa modules and compile the oss stuff should be enough.
But if you tell us details, maybe we can help you get sound working through alsa
