I suggest that you read this article and that one provided by SlackDocs.

Of late, I've been downloading the localised en_GB binary-release tarball from mozilla.org and extracting that to /opt/firefox and running it from there. Started doing this when Pat decided to stick with firefox-esr in the 14.1 release. Works ok at present, though it could break in the future if/when some of the shared library versions mozilla build it against change (at which point I'll either return to using the esr, or swap to slackware-current)

Would be trivial to script the update process for easy command-line updating. Just a combination of wget and tar ought to do it.

The decision to stick to ESR suits me (for now) as it holds off the Firefox 29 GUI redesign disaster... However I will probably end up back with Seamonkey eventually.

I do wish to use the newer Firefox releases so I use ruario's 'latest-firefox Version 1.0RC9' script to get the binary & create a Slackware package.

For latest-opera or latest-chrome

EDIT: New link for latest-chrome

For sea-monkey I would use PV's script for it.

Hope this helps.

I also run ESR on 14.1. I do run 29 on -current. When I get tired of Firefox I run Chrome and use Pat's slackbuild script provided in /extra.

Am I the only one that does not care for the new firefox UI? Anyways, you can always use ruario script or the SlackBuild script for building it yourself a new version

Hi,

At first I was upset with the new 29. Now that add-on bar has been restored by getting information by reading https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2014...or-firefox-29/ revealed that this extension will restore the add on bar:The Addon Bar (restored) 3.1

I like the new version Firefox 29 crispness & looks now that I have my addon bar back. Rounded tabs look OK. Took some time to get used to the menu position changes. I have 30 pinned tabs that take about half of the bar.

My theme is 'Walnut': http://imageshack.com/a/img843/8559/7xtj.png

All of my tweaks are working with 29. No issues too date.

there is a new firefox29 plugin called
"Classic Theme Restorer (Customize Australis)"
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...themerestorer/
and you can put the tabs below like in 28 and older
