How to switch to a graphical login and go straight to the Xfce desktop.

At the moment I have a Slackware 13.37 install that starts up in the default console login and bash session. I'd like to switch it to a graphical login and then go into the Xfce desktop and not bash. How can this be done?

Use xwmconfig to select the default window manager, then change the default runlevel to 4 in /etc/inittab.
