How to set up a virtual network (vmware)?
 

I need to transfer files between Slackware Linux (host) and Windows 2K (VMware guest).

I'm at a loss what to do. Reading dhcpd and dhcpd.conf manuals makes no sense.
VMware documentation is unclear to me either.

Can anyone tell me _where_ and _what_ should I type in? Or point me to a step-by-step (complete idiot's guide:)) tutorial?

If I understand your question the answer is:
1. create a directory in your Slackware system (say :/home/<your_directory>/vmshare/)
2. Start VMWare Workstation
3. Click on Edit Virtual Machine Settings
4. A pop up comes up, there select the "Options" tab
5. Click on Shared Folders
6. Click on Add and when prompted browse to the directory you created(/home/<your_directory>/vmshare/) and select it.

7. You are done

Now when you are in Windows (as a host in Slack) you can save files there and get them from Linux and when you're in Linux you put files there that you want to be accessible to the windows section.

Interesting, but how would one do that in VMware Server. I don't see such an option.

Here's how I do it...
 

When I'm in my Windows VM I use PuTTy's pscp to copy files to/from my host OS. If I'm in my Linux OS at the time I just do an SMB mount of c$ and copy whatever file(s) I need to copy. If you don't want to mount C$ just create a share on your Windows VM and then SMB mount it from your host OS.
