How to remove xfce4 ?

Hi. I'm using Slackware 13 with xfce4. The problem is that I've messed something with the xfce4 and now I want to reinstall it. Does "removepkg xfce4" will do the trick ?

If you read the man page for removepkg, you'll see that you need to use the full package name. So, you'll want

removepkg xfce-4.6.1-i486-5 xfce4-power-manager-0.6.6-i486-1

There may be other packages, but I just got those from a quick "ls /var/log/packages | grep xfce".

why not just delete your /home/user/.config/xfce4 directory? That will reset xfce to default settings.

No. It is not true, removepkg is not that strict .
man removepkg:
Code:
A package may be specified either by the full package name
(as you'd see listed in /var/log/packages/), or by the
base package name.

If you have messed up with XFCE config, just do like Daedra told you and remove the config files in ~/.config/xfce4.

All you need is:

Code:
shell# removepkg xfce
Presto -- gone! Though you may want/need to manually remove any local config files/dirs that have been created since the initial installation.
Also, to remove related packages (like the power-manager stuff) you'll need to use a more specific name for the package.

As mentioned above, if you just want to start with a fresh configuration because the current one is borked, just delete all the local config files/dirs while logged out, and log in anew. You'll have a fresh, default XFCE environment again.

Like a couple other people said, don't remove or reinstall it if you want to keep using it, there's no point cause the problem is with your configuration. Most xfce stuff is all in your ~/.config directory. Delete it and and it will regenerate defaults next time you start an xfce session.
