Thanks, I have actually been using them to build packages from the day you released them.

Hello!

I use dugan's slackbuilds for a long time, and I have never had any problem with them. But yesterday I upgraded the KDE to 4.8 and the fonts don't look nice anymore.
Here are the screenshots using both lcdfilter and cleartype, but the infinality also doesn't look better.

Do you have hintstyle set somewhere ?

For my part, I set it to hintslight in my ~/.fonts.conf
Code:
<?xml version="1.0"?><!DOCTYPE fontconfig SYSTEM "fonts.dtd">
<fontconfig>
<match target="font" >
  <edit mode="assign" name="antialias" >
   <bool>true</bool>
  </edit>
 </match>
 <match target="font">
  <edit name="autohint" mode="assign">
   <bool>true</bool>
  </edit>
 </match>
 <match target="font">
  <edit name="hintstyle" mode="assign">
   <const>hintslight</const>
  </edit>
 </match>
 <match target="font" mode="assign">
  <edit name="hinting">
   <bool>true</bool>
  </edit>
 </match>
</fontconfig>

Yes, I have. But if I delete the ~/.fonts.conf, that doesn't change a thing even after logout or restart.

Actually, it seems to be an issue with the new QT 4.8.

Hi,

Dugan & Daedra would it be better to update the Thread title to reflect this technique is for other Slackware releases? Not all users, especially newbies will not associate the technique to their Slackware version since you reference 12.1.

Just my $.02!

Is it possible to change the thread title? I don't see any option for it.

Go to the first thread(your #1) edit thread button then <Go Advanced>. You should see the Title for the thread. Modify title and then save!
HTH!

Onebuck I did what you suggested and it did change the title thread on the first post, but it didn't change the main title "Beautiful Fonts in 12.1". Am I missing something?

Should work. I just tested the sticky and the title can be changed.

What do you want the title changed too? I will check with the fora moderator to find out what the problem is.

Or you could use the <report> button to request a change to the title you want.

HTH!

I'm using Dugan's LCD Filter Rendering, downloaded from slackware-lcdfilter git-hub page. Now we've new freetype-2.4.8 update and I'm going to update it. Will the old patches work?

Afterwards, will I need to re-compile Fontconfig, libXft and Cairo too?

I've read above people are using Infinality, but I don't use it. Can someone post some screenshots after they have used kabamaru's slackbuild (described in post#298).

Thanks.

Can you wait? I'll update the lcd-filter SlackBuilds by the end of the week.

If you're really impatient, then take the patches from where I'll take them from:

http://gitorious.org/lcd-filtering

Also, I now have an awesome fonts.conf file that gives me full hinting for Microsoft's core fonts (so that web pages look right) and slight hinting for everything else (so that user interface fonts like Ubuntu and Droid Sans look right). The Infinality configuration files so something similar, but this is how I like it:
