How to mount a memory stick

My laptop has a memory card slot which accepts my memory stick. Can I mount this in Slackware, there is no usb involved.
Under Windows it just installs as a remvable memry device.

first, as root,
mkdir /mnt/usb

plug in your usb memory

mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb

in slackware, you will have to access it as root unless you change alot of stuff.

and you may also have to load the correct module if it is not already loaded.

Do a 'lsmod' and if 'usb-storage' is not in the list then load it with mod probe or insmod

'modprobe usb-storage'

This laptop has a memory card slot, no need for a usb card reader, so why is the usb system involved?

Nothing detected at all, so the kernel does not understand the card reader

It is an ENE Technology 4in1 card reader, ENE als do the card bus bridge, but this at least partly works as it can see a Prism wifi card.

Well if a USB port is not involved at all then you won't need the usb-storage mod - sorry my bad.
