So much for Konqueror after the updates of -current. It crashes constantly. I did not upgrade qt from the one I built a couple of days ago. I copied the last few lines from the cli after starting konqueror:
Code:
konqueror(8284)/kio (KIOJob) KIO::TransferJob::slotMimetype: mimetype() emitted again, or after sending first data!; job URL = KUrl("http://static.chartbeat.com/js/chartbeat.js")
konqueror(8284)/kdecore (KLibrary) kde4Factory: The library "/usr/lib64/kde4/kwebkitpart.so" does not offer a qt_plugin_instance function.
Segmentation fault
michael@BlackWizard:~$
I'll visit this later.
Interesting... I haven't experienced any crashes. What version of qt do you have? My Kwebkit Konqueror was mega-unstable until I installed 4.7.1.
Very Good!
Now I could open my gmail in konqueror in standard view instead of basic html view.
Only hassle was compile time for qt-4.7.1, it took 3 days to figure out that nearly 2GB of free space is required to complile qt.
I had less space on that drive and every time it froze due to lack of space, and I thought otherwise.
Any way nice exercise for me.
Replying from konqueror having default Webkit view.
Update: I just discovered that you CAN make kwebkit the default engine using the graphical interface. In the System Settings dialog, go into File Associations and then text>html>embedding. Put Kwebkit at the top of the list. This is still kind of convoluted; frankly I think the terminal command is faster.
Important update: the QT upgrade is no longer necessary! This morning Slackware -current got QT 4.7. If you're running -current just upgrade as usual and away you go. then you can follow the other steps to enable kwebkit and make Konqueror a great web browser again.
