The latest ATI driver has a nice graphical installer so installing shouldn't be a problem.

1. Download the latest driver from ATI.com
2. Install the driver:
Code:
sh ati-driver-installer-8.16.20-i386.run
3. After installation type:
Code:
fglrxconfig
4.1 Check if everthing went okay:
Code:
fglrxinfo
Code:
glxinfo | grep render
4.2 Test
Code:
glxgears
and
Code:
fglxgears
5. For troubleshooting check the gentoo wiki or simply come back here!

Have fun!

Hmh, just an idea, but check your "Device" section of your xorg.conf and make sure the Driver reads "fglrx".

How can I get the installer? I download it from ATI's site and instead of it saving as a file it opens the 50+ megs of data in my browser, which I then cannot save!!!

I finally got it by using netscape. Konqueror, IE and Mozilla for windows wouldn't work.

if i startx the screen goes black only with a blinking cursor on top right.

Dont know what to do next.
Any ideas how can i resolve this?
