Unhappy How to install lilo in slackware?

I just install slackware 10.1 on my laptop. During install i was asked where to install lilo, when disc 2 was in the drive. It told me to insert disk 1. I could not do this as the disc would not eject.

All packages are installed though. I have slackware on hda2 and cfdisk has it marked as bootable. When i start the system it keeps asking for the cd. it starts if i put cd1 in. Now my question is how do i install lilo to the MBR? I have tried to edit lilo.conf - but get msg 'no such file or directory'.

please help me to install lilo by telling me which files to edit. i dont want to have to re-install everything again. If i enter setup and select 're-configure system' option, i am just thrown off back to the main install menu.

You will need to install LILO either from your CD or download it here and install it (in both cases, you can use pkgtool or installpkg to do this). It does come with some documentation, although it doesn't seem like much (have a look at the file list here). You could try /sbin/liloconfig at first, but I don't know what that's like as I've never used it. There is also a sample lilo.conf there for you to have a look at (lilo.sample.conf). If you decide to use that (and edit it for your setup), you'll need to rename it "lilo.conf" and place it in /etc/. After that, you'll need to run /sbin/lilo.

You could try to boot your root partition from your cd. Then try to run liloconfig. It will help create your lilo.conf.
