How to get VectorLinux additions installed on Slackware?
 

With the recent release of VectorLinux SOHO 5.1, based on Slackware, it seems apparent that VectorLinux has new and exciting features compared to Slackware, such as for instance better automount of USB drives and such..

Having been a loyal Slackware user since my Linux-conversion about a year ago, I don't want to abandon Slackware. However, it would be very interesting to learn from more experienced Slackware users than myself how to install some of the usability features introduced by the VectorLinux team into Slackware?

Has anyone else, loyal to Slackware, been thinking the same? Do you have any information on this ?

I don't know how to do it, but it would be great to find a guide to turn Slackware into Vector. Well not really, just like you said, add the things that make it easier to use or detect hardware automatically.

Install Dropline Gnome. They have done some good work with Slack. All my devices automount, proper names show up, etc.

if vector provides the build scripts/patches/configs in the same fashion that slackware does, then i'd start my research by looking at said scripts/patches/configs to see what vector does differently at build time and how i could replicate some of the stuff on a good old slackware box...

Having quickly searched around, I don't think they make the source builds available.

However, there is a package-list of what packages they include, which may give some useful hints...
