how to get rid of the warning message about nfs?
hello, all
my box os is slackware-10.1, and I update kernel to 2.6.11.4
if I mount a directory via nfs
dmesg will propmt:
Quote:
|
nfs warning: mount version older than kernel
|
I think if I update the util-linux package can aviod the message above,
but I find the package util-linux-2.12p-i486-1 is the newest version?!
thanks for any idea.

Why? If its mounting you shouldn't worry about it. Or you can make both the server and client equivalent with same versions.

i just google for "nfs warning: mount version older than kernel" and apparently it has to do with your version of mount rather than your nfs-utils version.
to reiterate trickykid's question: are you getting any hangs, etc., or is this simply a cosmetic issue?

I get that error, too. But only after I recompile the kernel.
Maybe touch /bin/mount as root?

Nah, that doesn't work. Don't know how to solve it. But NFS works anyway.

Hi all,
I got the same problem. I find a lot of: "nfs warning: mount version older than kernel" messages in my syslog.
Particially nfs works fine, but sometimes I have to reboot the server, because mounted machines are not "responding"
I use Slack 10.0 with Kernel 2.6.9, util-linux-2.12h-i486-1, mount-2.12p
The machine serves as a Fileserver, where different other machines are mounted via nfs.
Any thoughts to get this completely fixed?
