First we want vim with 256 colors! Goto the konsole configuration and set the TERM variable in the “Session” tab to xterm-256color.
Where is konsole configuration?

it depends on the version of konsole you are using, but you can add that TERM variable also to your .bashrc

btw on kde4's konsole it's in something like settings->modify profile->general->environment

i edit the profile environment from xterm to xterm-256color and use the vim inkpot theme. but you could use any 256 colored theme.
If you use a 256 colored terminal you might wanna edit the /etc/DIR_COLORS file to add entries that will give you colors in terminals with 256 colors.
I always edit mine to include xterm-256color and screen-256color-bce.
Incidentaly i sent a feature request about including those entries to Pat only yesterday.
