How to fully optimize Slackware?

Hi.
I'd just changed from fedora to slackware 9.1.
i have been using linux in one month and i've been jumping from one distro to another, Mandrake, SuSe, Red Hat, Fedora.. but I think i'll settle down with Slackware.. so my question is how do i optimize Slackware fully?
I will use it as a server.. so i'd like to know what and where to get it.
I'm open for all sugestions, shoot! :)

Check out this thread on Slackware 9.1 install. It has a lot of great advice and posts. If you follow the guide Shilo has you should be up and running your server in a couple of hours.

I happily run slackware on a number of servers.

The clearest way of otimizing it from my perspective is using an expert install and literally only installing stuff you truely need. Don't install anything that is not "required/recommended".

From there, go about stopping any services that you don't require, looking at startup scripts and cron jobs that are there by default.

Then either install from slackware packages or compile from source the services that you require, e.g. apache 1.3.31 from http://www.linuxpackages.net or compile from source.

To be honest, if you're running a server, I would only get disk 1 from a mirror since this disk pretty much has everything you need. Disk 2 contains kde / gnome stuff (I think that's it!) that in my opinion shouldn't be on a server.

Slackware in general is a fairly optimized distro, especially if you're going for a minimalist install as pointed out above.

Sorry, I meant something else. My english isn't that good I'm afraid.
What I meant was; If you were telling me about a program or something, I would be glad if you
told me the whole link as well.. because I don't know where to get this and that..
