how to free ramdisk without reboot?


Hi,

as the subject says, does somebody know how to free ramdisk without reboot?

I would appreciate any help.

Do you mean unmount it?
ramdisk works just like any other "drive"

just umount /dev/ramX {X-the ramdrive no}
on my system (2.6.7 kernel) it is link to /dev/rd/X

unmounting it would release the ramdrive

well ... i was trying a lot of times with umount, but I got ramdisk back to ram only after reboot.

OH! I didn't motice such thing. Hmm.. What kernel version are you using? Will check mine later.
