how to find out download/upload speed

Hi,

I am logged on a server over ssh (no X), and I would like how much traffic (upload/download) goes thru eth0 on this server at the moment ...

any ideas? it should be somewhere in /proc/net probably, buit I wasn't able to find it.

Thanks

M.

Check out 'iptraf'

You need to run it as root to capture everything. You can view traffic by connection, or you can go to 'Lan Station Monitor' to view overall traffic on the interface. Traffic is in bits per second, not bytes per second.
