how to enable telnet login?

How can I enable telnet login in a slackware derivative? (specifically Backtrack 3)

Needing telnet because I'm unable to get ssh login working through a reverse ssh tunnel.

In Slackware telnet is part of the inetd daemon. So you would edit the /etc/inetd.conf file and uncomment the line for telnet. Then restart the inetd daemon.

On backtrack 3 (which I understand is a derivative of Slax which is a derivative of slackware) there is no /etc/inetd.conf. And how do I restart the inetd daemon?

You would probably get a more specific answer if you ask in backtrack-linux.org forums
No offense, but it's like asking FreeBSD questions on an OpenBSD mailing list because both are BSDs (and Theo reading it ) Good luck.
